NORTH CHANNEL
July 2001 At Anchor in Vidal Bay Undeveloped Scenery This bay like all the others never had a cottage on it. Only wildlife for residents. Swam too Far? The Shore looked closer than it really was. George almost didn't get to shore, then needed me to come get him in the dinghy. Happy for the Lift So, he was happy that he didn't have to swim back or spend the night on the island. Beautiful Secluded Anchorages Beardrop Cove. You can anchor in the middle on "the hook" or tie off to the trees and rocks next to shore. I saw the northern lights on a few occassions and ALL of the stars. Fox Harbour Most of the formations are pink granite, quartz and some limestone islands. Most anchorages had old stone firepits. Pilot CoveThis was a small cove with a difficult entrance only 15' wide and scattered with submerged rocks and dead heads (old logs)
Mostly Canandian There were larger inlets as well. Most of this wilderness is in Canadian waters. Deserted ShoresA dinghy is a must to get to shore and also tie off to a tree or log in a tight anchorage such as this.
Bosun's ChairI was wondering when I would have to use this.
Occasional VisitorWe did have visitors every once in awhile. This was a nice little motorsailer from Collingswood.
Safe Return! Back to our slip at Duncan Bay Boat Club.
